Masquerade in Ghent
The Masquerade in Ghent has been around for many years and is free and open to the public. It is Ghent's largest Halloween street party and costume contest.
Ample parking can be found along the streets and parking lots. Don’t miss the frightfully, fun-tastic time at this year’s Masquerade in Ghent!


Ghent Farmers Market
Ghent originated around 1890 on farmland outside of Norfolk that was originally called Pleasant Point. Most of its development was thanks to two Dutchmen, which is why so much of it resembles waterside towns in South Holland. The name of one of Ghent’s most obvious landmarks, The Hague, clearly draws from their heritage as well.
By the 1920’s, the layout of what is now considered Ghent’s main neighborhood was complete, and it hasn’t changed shape much in the time since. The first homes went up along The Hague, attracting middle- and upper-class populations with their prominent 19th century craftsmanship, and those homes still stand today. Annual Celebration
The Annual GBA Member Celebration is a time to recognize business leadership in the Ghent community and celebrate the continued success of our members.
Our Annual Celebration not only brings together Ghent Business Association members, but also the City of Norfolk’s leadership. In past years Norfolk Mayors, City Council Members, and Police Officers have attended in celebration of the GBA membership. LEARN MORE


Holidays in Ghent
The Ghent Business Association invites you to explore Ghent during holiday season and discover the unique specialty shops, restaurants, and professional services that make Ghent a great place to eat, shop, live, and play.
The weekend kicks off with the holiday tree lighting ceremony on Friday evening and is a memorable experience for the whole family. Rumor has it that Santa Claus is going to make it into town just for this event to light the tree! Grab the family and gather around the tree in front of Blair Middle School (730 Spotswood) for live music and a little festive fun!
The weekend also includes many shopping and dining specials at our local restaurant and businesses, and a special holiday market on Sunday in front of Blair Middle School.
